Texas NFL : Year in Review

Mr. Lucky 🏈

alright alright alright….

Where do we grow from here?

Lets review all three phases; Offense, Defense and Special teams

Cowboys:  12 - 5 > Once again, Big D gets hit with the post season blues. Close game in SF, proves they are knocking at the door. Why cant they take the next step?

Special teams - (F) Kickers gotta make chip shot FG's bar none. Too many misses opportunities take us back to the shoulda, coulda, woulda and that does not equal to wins. Punt returns and kick off returns weren't bad, but weren't good either. Fairly decent .

Offense - (C-) This is a QB era in the NFL, This is not 2000 when a Defense can run point and win the game with an average QB ala Baltimore Ravens. Too many rule changes prevent that from happening. The QB has to put a team on his back when the game is on the line. Sure you can change the coordinator, give the QB “more” weapons. It wont matter, if he can not process information on the fly and make the correct adjustment. Some can do it some can not, How long is too long to evaluate? 1 year 3 years 5 years?!

Defense - (B+) I like this group, they fly to the ball and play with confidence. However they can not win football games alone. Keep this group together, and they will be a Top D next year.  They have playmakers all over and will only get better.

Texans:  3-13 > This team requires a reboot, not an enema just a reboot. The right coach can make this happen. The coach will have to be The Man, the GM and Owner will have to stay off the field and let this team evolve in the coaches image.

Special teams - (D) Poof whats to say. FG kicker was nice, not trilling but nice. Didn't have any clutch moments, because there were none. A dynamic return guy would spice things up and get fans excited. Billy “White Shoes” Johnson, Carl Roach please stand up

Offense - (D) Back to the QB Pool, Rebuilding is the key word. Trade down for more picks and get Linemen that can dominate the trenches. RB WR TE there is current talent in house. Focus on O line.  Find some Gems in the later rounds at QB and let them compete in offseason for job.

Defense (D) Too many falters in the 4th. Glimpses of what can be. A stingy D that bullies teams and takes the ball away. However a mountain NT to plug middle and get pressure upfront is a good thing. They will find one in the draft. Once again the trenches is a focus.
